I have been freelancing for over eight years now, and I love running my own business, and love helping others create their perfect business. Before going freelance, I was a Finance Manager for several years, at times reporting at Board level, where I would be included in decision making for the company. My experience encapsulating business as a whole has enabled me to gain a wealth of business strategy knowledge.
During my career I have worked with many types of industries including agriculture, equine, animal feed, care homes and hospitality. All of which enable me to provide a wide range of skills.
I’m a country girl at heart and grew up in rural Leicestershire. Coming from an agricultural, equestrian and hospitality background, whilst growing up I was either bottle-feeding lambs, feeding ewes or driving our antique little “grey Fergie” around gathering bales while haymaking, or riding my pony Sophie. This is why I specialise in supporting Rural enterprises as I understand the struggles they face.
I have ridden horses on and off all my life and know the difference between a half halt and a half pass. I have had the pleasure to ride everything from fizzy Polo ponies to gentle Shires. I have galloped along beaches, rode through thick forest and cantered across stubble fields.
When I am not working, I like nothing more than exploring the New Forest and Dorset with my family and cocker spaniel, Finlay. Alternatively, you will find me curled up on the sofa with a good book and a coffee. I am happiest in walking boots and fleece but scrub up well for special occasions.
My strengths are excellent organisational skills, finding solutions to problems, an easy-going nature and level- headedness.
My weakness is too much black coffee.
Skills & History
Throughout my career I have had varied roles in the finance profession gaining an excellent understanding of how a business operates. For many years as a finance manager I was the go-to “trouble-shooter” for messy businesses and accounts for many years.
Having worked in finance for over 25 years you could say I know finance inside and out. I am a qualified AAT Accountant and a licensed member in practice with AAT. This means that I am regulated by AAT and keep up to date with all new standards and procedures and Continued Personal Development (CPD). I am compliant with AML and GDPR and have indemnity insurance.
I have a BTEC National Diploma in Hotel Management and have experience in the hotel trade. Currently one of my clients is a farm holiday accommodation letting company and I help them with bookings and am familiar with the booking system SuperControl.
